One of the biggest reveals from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was the revelation that Leia had also taken up Jedi training and had a lightsaber of her own. With Disney gearing up for the home release of TROS, we now have the clip of Luke and Leia’s duel from the film.

Check it out:

What’s interesting is, some fans were able to point out that Leia’s style of fighting looks to be the same as Kylo Ren’s. If you did your research, you’ll also know that Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, actually played the part of Leia in this scene, with Fisher’s face digitally inserted afterward.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of the revelation that Leia was a Jedi. With Leia already having a life as a diplomat before Luke came along, it seems uncharacteristic of her to take up training, especially when the New Republic was in need of being formed. Watching Leia’s role in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, you could definitely feel that Leia knowing how to use a lightsaber was just a last-minute addition to the story.

Then again, that’s just my opinion. If you loved the scene, don’t let me stop you from enjoying it. I just think there’s more to Star Wars than things that look ‘cool’ onscreen.

For now, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to hit digital on March 17 and Blu-Ray/DVD on March 31.
