Watch: Battlefront II Campaign Easter Egg Reveals a Killer Protocol Droid

While the real “meat” of Star Wars Battlefront II is the online gameplay, I thought the game still had a fun (albeit short) campaign. What’s funny is, there’s actually a neat Easter Egg—or possibly glitch—that puts Iden Versio up against a killer protocol droid.

Check it out:

I'm playing campaign and a protocol droid got a gun after I shocked it and proceeded to eventually kill me. Glitches are weird but hilarious

As it turns out, if you attack a protocol droid during Iden’s escape of the rebel ship, the droid will eventually pick up a gun and start attacking you. We know that protocol droids are made for translation and etiquette, so it’s kind of fun to watch one retaliate after you attack it.

If you’ve read the Doctor Aphra comics, you’ll also be familiar with murder/protocol droid 0-0-0/Triple Zero.  In the comics, he’s a black droid who is delightfully sinister and even has his own agenda that sometimes stands in the way of the lead Aphra. He’s a pretty chaotic character in the comics, and I’m sure there are some fans who would love to see him come to live-action or even animation. What about an appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian, Jon Favreau?

With the Coronavirus Outbreak canceling everything, people are turning to TV and video games to keep them satiated while they stay in quarantine. Good thing developers are kind of willing to oblige. Hopefully, DICE has something special cooked up for Battlefront while everyone is at home trying not to get sick.

Star Wars Battlefront II is now playable for Xbox One, PC, and PS4.
