Video Breaks Down Deleted Scenes and Concepts from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a huge hit, and like every other superhero film, a lot of concepts and ideas ended up on the cutting room floor. Mr. Sunday Movies breaks down all the deleted scenes and rejected ideas into one video, plus he also gathers some concept art of what the movie could have looked like.

It was said that the idea of bringing in the live-action Spider-Men was tossed around for a while, even going so far as to consider Tobey Maguire voicing Peter Parker in the film. The filmmakers though decided to toss the idea, seeing that having Maguire involved could lead to confusion as to where his universe lies.

There’s also a bunch of concept art at the end of the video that gives us alternate looks at hobo Peter Parker as well as the several villains in the film. We some are for a more ragtag look for the Prowler plus some other designs for Dr. Octopus.

I have to say, the film did give us a great surprise when they manage to hide Doc Ock from all the marketing material. You’d think that Sony would want to advertise all the villains in this film—pretty much as they did with Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Sequels are already in the works for Spider-Verse, and a lot are excited to see what’s in store for Miles Morales. I wish I could say the same for Venom; though the movie did make a lot of money, it’s one huge step back for comic book films.

Catch Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in theaters now.
