VFX Artists React to Great and Terrible CG in Marvel Films

Corridor Crew from Youtube has recently found a hit with this series of VFX artists reacting to good and bad CGI, and now they’ve released a new video where the Clint, Wren, and Niko share their thoughts about the worst and best CGI from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

For one, everyone agrees that the fully CG Thanos is amazing, and the guys delve deep into why he works so well. They zoom in on Thanos and reveal that the artists have actually worked on the pores of his face extensively, and they stretch just like real pores do. You can even see that Thanos has slight stubble on his face when you look up close.

As for bad CGI in the MCU, there’s no escaping the final fight scene with Killmonger and T’Challa in Black Panther. As it turns out, the VFX artists weren’t given enough time to work on the footage; besides that the set-up of the place was already terrible from a VFX point of view, what with BP wearing black and fighting in a scene which is already mostly black.

One thing I kind of hoped they commented on was Bruce Banner’s face out of the Hulkbuster in Infinity War. For how good Thanos looked in the film, they managed to botch Bruce Banner’s appearance in the final scene. Then again, this was added last minute. The original plan was to have Bruce turn into Smart Hulk in the end, but they decided to change it so that Bruce is down with everyone for the rest of the movie.

For now, catch Avengers: Endgame in theaters.
