The Lion King: Watch This Dog Genuinely React to Mufasa’s Death

Jon Favreau’s The Lion King reboot is set to come out later this year, and some fans are preparing themselves for the reimagining of Simba’s story. What’s interesting is, a new video of a dog watching Mufasa’s death has gone viral online, and you won’t be sure whether you’ll feel bad for the dog or be endeared on how adorable its reaction is.

Check this out:

As you can see, the dog is clearly reacting to what’s on the screen, and you can hear it whimper as he watches Simba try to get his dad up. It’s like watching a child watch the film for the first time and get shocked that they actually killed Mufasa in the middle of the film.

Just to compare, here's the scene from the film:

We don’t know if the reboot will manage to make it as emotional as this scene, but I’m sure it’s going to be one of the most pivotal scenes that Favreau has to get right. Then again, I’m already bracing myself for the inevitable backlash of haters that this movie was even made in the first place.

If anything, Disney isn’t slowing down its reboot train, so all we can really do watch where it goes. If you’re really against it, you don’t have to watch the Lion King reboot, but you don’t have to make anyone feel bad for enjoying it either.

Jon Favreau’s The Lion King comes out July 19.
