Tested: Adam Savage Goes Incognito with a Friend as the Knights of Ren

Adam Savage has had a reputation for making elaborate cosplay costumes and walking around convention halls incognito. Now he’s taking up a new challenge walking around Silicon Valley Comic-Con as a Knight of Ren.

For Adam's first incognito costume of the year, he teams up with propmaker Darrell Maloney (aka Broken Nerd) to become two of the Knights of Ren from Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Without much reference material, Adam and Darrell relish the opportunity to bring these mysterious characters to life in cosplay.

Though we were given a first glimpse of the Knights in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, they were nowhere to be found in The Last Jedi. Rian Johnson has explained that he considered having the Knights in the Throne Room fight scene, but he didn’t want Kylo to have an emotional connection to whoever they were fighting — hence the Praetorian guards were created.

Hopefully the concept of the Knights of Ren aren’t abandoned when it comes to Star Wars Episode IX. I think it would be a waste to see something teased in the trilogy and not have it result to anything. If the Knights are dropped, I think they would become a glaring mistake whenever someone watched The Force Awakens.

Star Wars Episode IX is slated for a release on Dec. 20, 2019.
