Spongebob Squarepants is the longest running cartoon in Nickelodeon, and a lot of scenes from the earlier episodes have become golden internet memes. Nick is apparently aware of this, and we have a new video of the voice actors recreating some of the scenes from the film.

That’s Bill Fagerbakke voicing Patrick with Tom Kenny playing Spongebob. If you stick around till the end, you’ll also meet other regulars of the show like Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Mr. Lawrence (Plankton), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), and  Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs); This is just a fun fact, but did you know that Brown also provides the voice of the DCAU’s Lex Luthor? He was also the Dai Li leader Long Feng in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

For now, Nickelodeon has just greenlit a prequel series for the show called Kamp Koral which will follow Spongebob as a kid in sleep-away camp. We don’t have a look at that series yet, but production had already started early June.

We don’t really know what direction the main Spongebob show is moving now, but we do know that the PR for the movie is highly aware of the internet memes. Almost every scene in the video were memes that were making rounds on the internet, and just a few months ago, Nick had released some official toys of Spongebob that were based on memes as well.

While I personally think that the best episodes were the ones that came out in earlier seasons, I’m sure there a bunch of kids out there who love this new generation of Spongebob humor.

Catch Spongebob Squarepants only on Nickelodeon.
