Joker Honest Trailer Asks What the Controversy Was All About

While Todd Phillips’ Joker came out a solid film, a lot of people have been putting it in the center of controversy, especially now that it’s been nominated for several awards. Just in, Screen Junkies has decided to put up their Honest Trailer take for the most successful R-rated movie of all time.

From the studio who won’t release the Snyder Cut —and this guy— comes a period piece of psychological and social decay with the bare minimum of Batman it took to get the movie made. There. Look. With the pearls and everything. Happy?

Personally I thought Joker was alright, but for some reason, a lot of people on Twitter have been bashing it for earning nominations that the film apparently doesn’t deserve. If anything, Joaquin Phoenix worked really hard on the role, and it shows in the movie. Besides, just because a film got numerous awards doesn’t really mean that it’s great. Just because this thing got nominated for all the Oscars doesn’t mean that you have to revere it now.

If anything, the really great thing about Joker is how it was able to disguise itself as a comic book film despite being a serious character study. Hopefully, this will open doors for more risqué DC projects for WB. With Shazam! and Aquaman supposedly catering to the kid-friendly Marvel formula, Joker proves that dark, adult-oriented comic book films can still succeed in the box office.

Joker is now available for home release.
