Crisis on Infinite Earths: Watch Tom Welling's Return as Clark Kent

[SPOILERS FOR THE CW’S CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS]

While everyone was hyped up for the return of Brandon Routh as Superman, Smallville fans were also excited to see Tom Welling reprise the role of his Man of Steel. The latest episode of Crisis on Infinite Earths gave us just that, but Welling didn’t exactly play the part of Superman.

Check it out:

As per the clip, it’s been revealed that Welling’s version of Superman had given up his powers so that he could be a father. The newspaper clippings in the home have confirmed that Superman did exist for a time, but for now it looks like the Last Son of Krypton is just happy to live a simple life of a farmer.

On the upside, he isn’t affected by Kryptonite anymore, much to the surprise of Lex Luthor. Too bad we didn’t get to see Michael Rosenbaum reprise the part like what was previously mentioned. At least we know that he becomes the president in his continuity.

Besides the appearance on Welling, the show was also able to nab Erica Durance to reprise the role of Lois Lane, and it looks like she did marry Clark in this continuity. It’s a fun little reunion, and though we never got to see Welling in a Superman suit, I guess this is a good enough cameo on his part.

Then again, what if they’re just saving an appearance for the final episode of the event? Again, I’m just speculating here, but it just seems like a waste not to see him in the suit at all.

The final episode of Crisis on Infinite Earths ends on Jan. 14 with Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
