Blizzard Shares Early Development Footage For Overwatch

Overwatch has steadily grown to be one of the biggest games for Blizzard, and Blizzcon this year saw a lot of amazing reveals for both the future and past of the game. During a panel, Jeff Kaplan shared some cool footage of early concepts of Overwatch from way back in 2013, and it’s cool to see how the game has evolved four years later.

Check it out:

As you can see, Tracer has been one of the characters that have been with the game since the very beginning, and it’s understandable how Blizzard has decided to make her the poster girl for Overwatch. We also get some great early concepts for characters like Pharrah, Hanzo, and Mercy.

You have to appreciate the amount of beta testing that Blizzard goes through before they release their games. There’s always a lot of talk about making the characters “feel great” when they’re being controlled. With a lot of modern games coming out half-baked (looking at you, EA), it’s great to see how Blizzard always has the gamers in mind.

Overwatch is already a large community online, but it continues to grow thanks to Blizzard’s constant updates and inclusions of different characters in the show. For now there’s an upcoming healer character called Moira, and she’ll be the first support hero we see on side of Talon.

Overwatch is currently playable for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
