Avengers Infinity War: VFX Breakdown Shows Thanos Pre-CGI

For almost 10 years, the MCU has been building up to Thanos, and with Avengers: Infinity War, they didn’t disappoint. Josh Brolin provided the motion capture for the Mad Titan, and a new VFX breakdown shows him in his mo-cap suit before they transformed him into the movie.

With Brolin starring in two superhero films this year (Deadpool 2 and Infinity War), Brolin has said that he has preferred playing Thanos more than the time-travelling Cable. With Cable, Brolin had to beef up his body to match that of superhero standards; but with Thanos, he just had to wear a mo-cap suit, but his performance was still captured faithfully.

Nobody really knows where Avengers 4 will go next year, but hopefully we get a satisfying conclusion to Thanos’ arc. He definitely came out as a memorable villain, and I was amazed how fleshed out he was in Infinity War.

Brolin has said that he prefers that Thanos would live after his final bout with the Avengers, and hopefully he could also make an appearance in Marvel’s Eternals movie. We’ll just have to wait and see what the Russo Brothers have in store for the Mad Titan.

Avengers 4 comes out May 3, 2019.
