Anime Expert Explains Why the Live-Action Ghost in the Shell Movie Will Suck

The live-action adaptation of Masamune Shirow's Ghost in the Shell received mixed reactions when the first trailer was released earlier this week. Based on the trailer, I thought they did a good job capturing the visual style of the film, but anime expert DigiBro is clearly against it. In his nearly-20-minute rant, he explains why the film will suck, opening the video by asking why we need a live-action version in the first place. Then he compares the film to The Matrix, another film influenced by Ghost in the Shell, saying that the live-action version is more like The Matrix than its original source material. He makes a good point when he explains that Ghost in the Shell is meant to be more philosophical, not just a stylish action film like Lucy (Johansson's previous action film that sucked). Watch his rant below:

Here's the synopsis of the film:

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, GHOST IN THE SHELL follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic¹s advancements in cyber technology.

Ghost in the Shell will hit theaters on March 31, 2017.
