Zootopia and Kubo Dominate Annie Award Nominations

The Disney film Zootopia and the Studio Laika film Kubo and the Two Strings are the current frontrunners for the upcoming Annie Awards, Varietyreports. The Annie Awards are touted as "the highest honor given to excellence in animation". The upcoming show will the 44th Annie Awards.

Zootopia got the most nominations for the Annie Awards with eleven votes. Kubo and the Two Strings fell just behind it with ten nominations. Both movies got nominations for best feature film, along with awards for writing directing and other things.

As usual, Disney has done pretty well overall for the Annie Awards. Disney properties earned 38 nominations in total, including ones for Finding Dory and The Jungle Book. The company with the second highest amount of nominations was Dreamworks, which had 18 nominations in total.

Alongside Zootopia and Kubo, Disney's Moana and Dreamworks' Kung-Fu Panda 3 are nominees for best feature. Independent best feature nominees are mostly from Japan. They include GKids Miss Hokusai and My Life as a Zuchinni, Studio Ghibli's The Red Turtle, CoMix Wave Films Your Name and Sacrebleu Productions' The Way North. TV series nominees include Adventure Time, Star Wars Rebels, Wander Over Yonder and more.

Considering Kubostruggled a bit despite being an excellent film, I'm glad its getting some recognition. Considering its struggles, I'm kind of hoping it beats Zootopia, even though I loved that too. What about you? Who do you think should win the Annie Awards?
