'Your Name' is Now Highest Grossing Anime Film of All Time

The anime film Your Name has been breaking records left and right and now it's broken one of the biggest ones, Comic Book reports.Your Name has officially become the highest grossing anime film of all time. It's grossed $289 million worldwide.

The film, directed by Makoto Shinkai, follows a boy and girl wake up one day in eah other's bodies. Despite never having met, they began to fall in love over the course of this strange experience. However, they meet several obstacles along the way.

Your Name has now outgrossed Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away, which held the previous record for highest grossing anime film. The film owes much of its sucess to its home country, where it earned $195 million and became Japan's third-best selling film of all time. It was also the highest grossing Japanese film of all time in China, where it earned $81 million.

Your Name also proved the be very popular in South Korea. It have yet to get a widespread release in the West, but Funimation has purchased the rights and it will get an official release sometime this year. It will be airing in 85 countries and regions.

This film just keeps breaking more and more records and that's before Westerners can even see it! I can't wait to get a chance to view this hit movie. What about you?
