X-Men: Dark Phoenix Might Kill Off A Major Character

While fans are excited about Deadpool 2 and New Mutants in 2018, they may have forgotten about X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is also coming out next year. This is understandable since X-Men: Apocalypse, the predecessor to Dark Phoenix, failed to captivate audiences despite a few fun action sequences. It looks like the people at Fox are planning to make the next film a bit more interesting since rumor has it that a major character is going to die.

According to That Hashtag Show, there will be a sequence where Jean loses control of her powers and results in the death of a major character who has been around since X-Men: First Class. Professor X (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) are all possible candidates for the dramatic death. Considering how these are arguably the biggest stars of the franchise, killing one of them is a pretty controversial move.

This death will supposedly push Jean over the edge, which could lead to Dark Phoenix gaining full control of her body. In the comics, Dark Phoenix actually destroyed a whole planet when she fully possessed Jean Grey, so one can only imagine what the film will do. Since Simon Kinberg will be directing it will be interesting to see what he does here.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is slated for a November 2, 2018, release. If this rumored character killing is true, it could make for a more interesting film.
