X-Men Dark Phoenix: James McAvoy Teases His Return As Professor X
Despite the negative reception of X-Men: Apocalypse, Fox is still making money with these X-Men flicks, and the next movie in line is X-Men: Dark Phoenix. A lot of actors from the First Class X-Men cast are set to come back, including James McAvoy—and he’s teasing his return as the famously bald Professor X.
Aside from McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Jennifer Lawrence are set to return as their characters Magneto, Beast, and Mystique respectively. I don’t know about you, but this timeline is doing a very crap job when it comes to explaining these character’s ages. Sure, they said that Mystique’s powers make her age slowly, but you can’t expect me to believe that Fassbender is already a 60 year-old Magneto at this point. Did you know that they were supposed to be in their 50s in Apocalypse?
Besides all that, Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner is also set to return as Jean Grey; she is, after all, the ‘Phoenix’ referred to in the title. I’m just curious, because the Dark Phoenix saga is famously known for depicting the death of Jean Grey. Will they kill of the character in her second movie (a la Superman in BvS) or will they make her live and possibly anger every hardcore fanboy?
If anything, I think the only saving grace in the Fox superhero movie franchise is Deadpool, at least he knows when not to take himself too seriously.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix comes out Nov. 2, 2018.
