X-Files To Officially Return To Fox For Six Episodes

It has been 13 years since The X-Files left television and released a couple of mediocre films; now the popular paranormal series is set to return to FOX. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are confirmed to return to the show, and apparently the show's revival has been in the works since January.

The X-Files Creator Chris Carter told EW:

"I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."

Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group, said:

"We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons ofThe X-Files– one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn't be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again,"
"The X-Fileswas not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans asThe X-Files, and we're ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they've been waiting for."

The six stories will most likely be self-contained stories, and they will probably be 90-minute episdoes, similar to Sherlock.

I remember watching X-Files as a kid, and a lot of strange scenes terrified me. I look forward to seeing its revival. Are you going to watch the new X-Files?
