With Wonder Woman being the most successful movie of the DCEU, a lot of fans are looking to Marvel Studios' female-lead superhero film, Captain Marvel. Production for the movie has already begun, and the working title of the film could hint at the plot of the movie.
According to Production Weekly, the working title for Captain Marvel is Open World. Seeing that Captian Marvel has close ties to the alien race of the Kree, the working title could definitely be alluding to Carol Danvers and her run in with the movie's villains, the Skrulls.
With Captain Marvel's origins obscured to a majority of the audience, Marvel Studios has confirmed that they will be altering her backstory a bit. A big problem is also the fact that her origin is very similar to that of Green Lantern, what with Danvers being a pilot who gains her powers from an alien.
Seeing that this will be the first female-lead Marvel film in the course of over 10 years of the MCU, the pressure is on for lead actress Brie Larson and directing duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. It kind of doesn't help that Wonder Woman absolutely floored audiences, and a comparison will definitely be made between the two movies.
Captain Marvel comes out March 8, 2019.
