Woody Harrelson Joins the Cast of Han Solo Standalone Star Wars Film

Last week, it was reported that Woody Harrelson was in talks to play Han Solo's mentor in Phil Lord and Chris Miller's untitled Han Solo film. Today, Lucasfilm has confirmed in the official Star Wars website that the veteran actor is joining Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), and Emilia Clarke in the next standalone Star Wars film.

"We couldn't be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody," said the movie's Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie). "His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong."

Harrelson is known for his roles in The Hunger Games, Now You See Me, No Country For Old Men, Cheers, True Detective, and Zombieland.

In other news about the Han Solo film, actor Diego Luna might have hinted that his Rogue One character, Cassian Andor, will return in the Han Solo film.

The film is set during Han Solo's younger days, prior to A New Hope. It's set to release in 2018.
