Wonder Woman Star Chris Pine Fires Shots At Avengers: Infinity War

Wonder Woman is the DC Extended Universe's very first female-led superhero film and with the film turning the tide for the burgeoning DC cinematic universe, star Chris Pine decides to poke a little fun at one of Marvel's most highly-anticipated comicbook movies: Avengers: Infinity War.

Speaking in an interview with Screen Slam, Pine talked about his role as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman. Asked about what made him decided to join the DCEU film with so many comicbook movies to choose from, the Star Trek actor makes a tiny little jab at Marvel while answering that director Patty Jenkin's take on Wonder Woman had actually drawn him to the film.

"She, in particular — Patty [Jenkins] was a great reason why I wanted to be involved. I met her, I hadn't read — there was no script. Then she told me what she wanted to do: the story, my character, and Gal's character."

"I, like you [the interviewer], agree that within this genre, it's difficult to do something new, and usually, you just see a bunch of people killing one another — in outfits and blowing up cities. Like, I know there's a thing called Infinity War, which is like, I don't — really, like, Infinity War? We need more war for all time?"

It's pretty funny that Pine says that – his character, Steve Trevor, actually goes on a "war to end all wars" in Wonder Woman. Of course, isn't the first time Pine's fired some shots at Marvel. He's also made fun of the number of Chris' the MCU has, going on screen on Saturday Night Live saying that he wasn't Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, or Chris Pratt because he belonged in DC. Guess we know where Pine's loyalties lie.

Before she wasWonder Woman(Gal Gadot), she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.
