William Shatner Says He Doesn’t Want His Own Star Trek Series

Star Trek alum Patrick Stewart might have been pretty emotionalwhen he announced that he was making his way back to the franchise with his very own Star Trek series on CBS, but it looks like Star Trek legend William Shatner doesn't want the same for himself.

Sure, he might be one of the biggest names in the Star Trek franchise after playing Captain Kirk in original series, but the Star Trek icon isn't at all interested in getting his own show. Speaking in an interview with the Toronto Star, Shatner revealed that he was too happy with what he's been doing now to make his way back to television for another Star Trek series.

"Right now I'm happy doing what I'm doing," the actor explained, "I've been offered many series over the years. But I haven't done them because of the commitment of time. And at this stage of my life, that's more valuable than anything else."

It's definitely a huge disappointment to the Star Trek fanbase to hear that Shatner doesn't want his own series. After all, the actor's been a huge part of the franchise, playing Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series, in the animated Star Trek series and in several Star Trek movies including The Wrath of Khan and The Final Frontier.

Still, we understand why Shatner wouldn't want to return. Shatner's already 87, and even at that age, the actor's pretty busy with his creative pursuits including a music career and a Christmas album due for release in October. Guess Shatner's schedule makes it pretty hard for him to commit to his own Star Trek series.
