Will the Westworld Star Wield the Power Ring?

James Marsden, whose star is resurrecting because of his role as the gunslinging Teddy in HBO's Westworld, is apparently another top candidate to play Hal Jordan in The Green Lantern Corps. And if he does bag the part, this time the 40-something star might finally kick butt as the cocky space cop. Jordan is a maverick and rushes in where other superpowered beings may fear to tread. Wielding his ring just might remove the "wimpy good guy" stigma that had been attached to Marsden in other comic book films.

His Cyclops in the X-Men movies was overshadowed by Hugh Jackman's career-making Wolverine and was eventually killed off almost dismissively in X-Men: The Last Stand. As Richard White, Marsden could only look helplessly as the Man of Steel (Brandon Routh) regains the love of Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) in Superman Returns.

We Got This Covered says that their source leaked the news of Marsden's inclusion in the shortlist. As this source puts it:

"I've heard one more name, too. Ever since Westworld Marsden has been pretty hot around here. They've discussed him for Hal as well."

This has to be confirmed, though, along with the source's other revelation that Armie Hammer and Ryan Reynolds are among the favorites to play Earth's Green Lantern.
