Will Smith Says It's Terrible When He Found Out His Independence Day Character Died

Last month, Will Smith's Independence Day character was revealed in a viral site: it turns out that Captain Steven Hiller died back in 2007.

Now, Will Smith told Yahoo his thoughts about his character's tragic fate:

"I was working on Suicide Squad during that time. [Independence Day director] Roland [Emmerich] and I had talked about it. The trailer looks really cool. I'm going to be sitting around with tears in my eyes when that one comes out… It was terrible when I found out my character died."

Well, fans will probably say that he should have signed up to be in the sequel. Director Roland Emmerich explained why Smith opted out of the film before.

Will Smith is currently starring in Concussion, and Suicide Squad, which will be released in theaters on August 5.
