Will Jennifer Lawrence Be In Future X-Men Films?

It's already a given that there are more X-Men films currently being planned. But as secure as the future is for the X-Men universe, the fate of the primary team remains unknown.

Despite the uncertainty of that future though, Academy-Award winner Jennifer Lawrence has expressed her desire to return to X-Men. In fact, the 25-year-old actress really, really wants to return.

In an interview with Empire, Lawrence said:

I am dying to come back. I love these movies, I love being in them. I love ensemble movies because it's not on anyone's shoulders.

These comments are a clear 180-degree shift from what she thought a year ago about the franchise.

According to Cinema Blend, the actress said she was tired of her blue-skinned mutant Mystique's makeup process and she didn't want to go through it all over again.

There's no telling what changed Lawrence's mind. There's the possibility that she could have spoken out during the heat of the moment, since the Empire interview took place at the set of X-Men: Apocalypse. But then it could also be because at this point in her career, virtually any movie she's in considers her as one of its leads.

Lawrence did say she loved ensemble films, but right now the only future X-Men films are of standalone movies for Wolverine, Deadpool, and most probably Gambit. If Lawrence will star as Mystique once again, there's a chance that it could be another standalone film.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
