Why Tom Hanks Got A Call From Disney's Lawyers Over Toy Story 4

Tom Hanks made an appearance at The Graham Norton Show, and revealed that the production for Toy Story 4 has begun.

Hanks was describing his experience of voicing the cowboy doll Woody when he let slip that his recording sessions would start this month.

"We are working on it right now," he said.

"I have a recording session on the second of December."

Hanks said the recording sessions often lasted up to four or five hours and that his diaphragm "gets a workout".

"By the time I'm leaving I'm driving home, I literally have to put an ice chest on my diaphragm just so I can go home because it's clenched throughout."

Hanks didn't seem concerned about the potential repurcussions of discussing the film.

"Somebody stuck a microphone in my face at some point and said ‘is there going to be a Toy Story 4?' and I said ‘yeah, yeah I think so' and I got a call from the Disney lawyers the next day," he said.

"They said ‘you are contractually not allowed to discuss a Toy Story 4. It will affect the stock market price of the Disney common stock so you are no longer…' I said, ‘hey, I'm sorry, but let me just point out, I'm Woody.'"

Toy Story 4 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 15, 2018.
