Stan Lee has spoken.
When it was revealed last week that Captain America apparently had been a villain all along, – being a double agent for Hydra in Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 – fans went on an outrage. The writer of the comic, Nick Spencer, even received death threats online following the revelation.
Most, if not all fans, as well as Captain America actor Chris Evans may have thought the concept was unacceptable. However, for Stan Lee, the whole idea is a "crazy good idea."
During a MegaCon panel, the renowned Marvel comic book creator said:
It's a hell of a clever idea. I don't know that I would ever have thought of it for him to be a double agent, but it's going to make you curious, it's going to make you want to read the books, they'll probably do a movie based on it.

If there's anyone who has authority over these types of controversies, it's Stan Lee, and I have to agree with the legendary Marvel icon's take on it.
As much as I was shocked and first unaccepting of a superhero icon being a traitor and a spy, Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 isn't the last leg of Cap's journey in the Marvel Universe. A lot of events and twists could still take place that put cap on the good side again. He may not be a Hydra plant after all by the end of the comic book series. In fact, this fan theory explaining why the whole Hydra thing could be just a set up for another plot twist may be correct.
