Warner Bros. Wants To Get Suicide Squad 2 Right

Suicide Squad continues to be that one DC film that has a ton of fans and made a lot of money, despite its inherent flaws. Though the film's plot left a lot to be desired, it was carried by the charisma and performances from the actors involved. Now that the future of DC movies is a bit unsure, Rick Flag actor Joel Kinnaman has given fans something to be positive about since he said that the studio wants to get Suicide Squad 2 right.

Talking with Collider about his Netflix series Altered Carbon, the topic of Suicide Squad 2 was brought up. Apparently, Kinnaman has no idea if a script has been finished or if a shooting date has been chosen. The only thing he knows is that Warner Bros. is prioritizing it and they want to make it good.

"No, I don't know. I just know that they are working intensely on it. I know it's a big priority at Warner Bros., but it's an equally big priority to get it right. We all felt that we had lightning in a bottle, in a way, and it partly got away from us, a little bit. It's really important to harness everything that was great about it, and then fix what didn't really work. So, I know they're working on it, and we'll see. I'm very excited to read something, but I don't have any new information."

While he doesn't know the exact details about the film, he did get to speak with new director Gavin O'Connor. Kinnaman has said positive things about the director and is looking forward to working with him on the sequel.

"Yeah, I talked to him a little bit. I'm very excited that he's on board. I think he's a great choice. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they come up with."

Suicide Squad 2 has no release date yet, as of this writing.
