Warner Bros. Is Developing A Jared Leto Joker Movie

Warner Brothers hasn't given up on Jared Leto's Clown Prince of Crime after all.

Though might have come to believe that the studio was cutting Leto off after the divisive response to the actor's portrayal of Joker in Suicide Squad, it seems like Warner Brothers has decided to develop a new Joker origin movie starring Leto.

As per Variety, the Prefontaine actor has been set to produce and star in the untitled Joker solo movie, a film that helps pave the way for future Suicide Squad spinoff films. Though there aren't that many details about the film's plot just yet, Warner Brothers is planning to expand the world built by Suicide Squad. This new film adds on to Warner Bros. other spinoff projects like the Birds of Prey feature starring Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.

DC fans might be a bit surprised about this new Jared Leto Joker movie. After all, the studio did announce last fall that it was developing a Joker origin movie with director Todd Phillips and just recently brought in Joaquin Phoenix to star in the film. However, according to the publication, Phillips film falls outside of the DC Extended Universe and works under a new origins banner for the studio.

Leto's Joker movie doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
