Warner Bros. Adopts New Approach for Future DC Films

After Justice League limped in the box office to break event, Warner Bros. is now taking a new approach in regards to greenlighting films. There was already a major shakeup when it was revealed that Walter Hamada would be taking over Jon Berg's position as a co-president of DC films. An even bigger shakeup has been revealed now, as newly-minted Warner Bros. Pictures Chairman Toby Emmerich will now answer to no one but Warner Bros. Entertainment CEO Kevin Tsujihara.

Speaking with The Wrap, Tsujihara revealed that Emmerich would have the green light for films and Tsujihara will have the red light to stop them. It's a much easier process for getting movies made and should be a sigh of relief for directors hoping to pitch films to the studio in the near future. Sue Kroll, who was part of this committee for green lighting and marketing films, has stepped down to a producer role.

One WB Insider claimed that fewer cooks in the kitchen would make for better decisions on making films and marketing them as well. People in the studio feel that this decision was implemented after the poor marketing of Justice League, which excluded Superman from all promotional material to keep the "surprise."

Considering how he appeared in one promo image and disappeared from the rest, it was definitely an odd decision to make. Of course, some would argue that he shouldn't have been killed in Batman V Superman at all but that's crying over spilled milk at this point.

Will this make for better DC films in the future? One can only hope.
