Unused MCU Spider-Man Costume Revealed, Based on Ben Reilly

When Spider-Man's MCU look debuted in Captain America: Civil War, fans were thrilled with what they say. Though it wasn't as accurate as the costume seen in Amazing Spider-Man 2, many fans dug the new design, along with the expressive eyes that make more sense in the MCU then in the comics. It turns out that there was an alternate design for Spidey's costume and it was based on his popular clone Ben Reilly.

Marvel executive Ryan Meinerding shared the Ben Reilly-inspired look on Instagram. Keep in mind that the suit is based on Reilly's tenure as Spider-Man, not the Scarlet Spider. As most fans know, the Scarlet Spider identity is Reilly's most popular look, thanks to the unique look that caught many off-guard with its awesomeness.

On the photo's caption, Meinerding says that he shared this alternate design after previous ones based on Valkyrie and Hulk received positive fan reactions. He also admitted that the suit was based on Ben Reilly's Spider-Man outfit, crediting veteran artist Mark Bagley for the original design of the character.

It's a shame this design didn't make it to the film. While the costume chosen is pretty good in its own right, it would have been nice to see this suit in action. That being said, we don't need to see any clones of Spider-Man in the future.

Fans can see Spidey in action this year in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018.
