Transformers: The Last Knight Final Trailer Might Be Copying From Star Wars

Michael Bay's Transformers may not have much in common with Star Wars, however it seems like Transformers: The Last Knight has been borrowing a few ideas from the popular science fiction space opera film franchise.

Last Sunday, Paramount Pictures released the final trailer for the upcoming science fiction action film online and while most viewers were swept away by the dramatic fight sequences previewed in the video, some spotted a few similarities to elements in the Star Wars franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the ships flying around in the 0:42 mark of the trailer actually look quite similar to TIE Bombers first seen in The Empire Strikes Back, making fans wonder whether Bay is actually nodding to the Star Wars original trilogy. Sure the ship's designs do have an extra fold, but they do come very, very close to the Bombers.

Could this be Bay's way of honoring Star Wars as it marks its 40th Anniversary this year? Or is this an attempt at copying off one of the Star Wars franchise's beloved ships? We'll probably have to wait and see.

Transformers: The Last Knight hits cinemas on June 21, 2017 while Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes crashing into theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
