Tony Stark Returns in Invincible Iron Man #599

Even though there has been an Iron Man comic for the past few years, Tony Stark has not been the lead character. After Civil War II he was comatose for some time, though an A.I. of his did pop up and guide Riri Williams as new superhero Ironheart. Fans have missed Tony but they will be happy to know that the Avenger will be making his return this April in Invincible Iron Man #599.

As many comic book readers know, this will be the penultimate issue of Brian Michael Bendis' run on Iron Man. Many expected Bendis to bring back Tony in his final issue, so seeing the character's return solicited in advance is somewhat surprising. Somewhat only since Marvel and DC tend to spoil their big storylines to get fans to buy more comics.

Newsarama confirmed that the April issue will show how he escaped and presumably how he will get his Iron Man armor back. How this connects to the giant-sized Invincible Iron Man #600 remains to be seen but that doesn't matter. Fans who've missed Tony will just be happy to have him back.

With Bendis leaving for DC Comics, it was recently confirmed that Dan Slott would be replacing him in the Iron Man series. Slott will work on the series once he finishes his run on Amazing Spider-Man.

Invincible Iron Man #599 comes out in April. Marvel's full April solicitations will be revealed soon.
