Tony Stark Actually Shares A Special Connection With Thanos In Avengers: Infinity War

It looks like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) actually shares a connection with Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Infinity War.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo just recently spoke with The Telegraph about working on Marvel's two-part Avengers movie, and during the interview the publication asked whether the Mad Titan's direct enemy be Tony Stark.

Though the filmmakers counter the question saying that all of the heroes involved in the film are Thanos' enemies, Joe explains that the Titan actually has the "most specific connection" to Iron Man because Tony's actually predicted a threat like Thanos.

"It's lived in his brain even though he couldn't name it. Tony is the most desperately driven, down to the core, to react against something like Thanos, although all the heroes will face a threat, no matter who it is or where it comes from," Joe says. "But I think this is intrinsic to Tony's psychology, and because Tony started it all with Iron Man, he has a special connection to the threat that's facing him."

The Marvel Cinematic Universe did begin with Iron Man, so it definitely makes sense that Tony would have some sort of connection to Thanos now that we're moving closer towards the culmination of the franchise.

It isn't going to be easy for Iron Man though. Tony's had quite a journey in the MCU, starting as a narcissistic, self-centered character who eventually learns the meaning of accountability and the value of keeping close relationships. Tony has so much to lose entering Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War premieres April 27.
