Tom Holland Talks About How Civil War Was Marvel’s Pre-Exam For Spider-Man

Spider-Man: Homecoming may be the Tom Holland's first solo Marvel movie; however the British star's first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as everyone's favorite webslinger was in Captain America: Civil War a film which the actor describes as a "pre-exam" for his version of Spidey.

Speaking in an interview with NewsHub to talk more about Homecoming, Holland recalls his fantastic debut in Civil War and what he felt about his appearance in the Marvel smash-down movie.

"It was the perfect way to start this franchise. It was like the pre-exam."

"You know, if I got it wrong, I'd know how to fix it by the first one. So, I was lucky that I had the opportunity to just test the water a little bit and see what the fans wanted to see. And it just turns out that they wanted to see my version."

Pitting Spider-Man in Civil War was a great move for Marvel. The studio didn't just get to see how the Holland's version of the character worked with the rest of the Avengers, they also go to test how fans would react to the hero – a pretty great way to examine whether it was the webslinger's time to join the MCU.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits cinemas on July 7, 2017.
