Todd McFarlane On How He Landed Jeremy Renner For His Spawn Reboot

Todd McFarlane's been eyeing Avengers 4 actor Jeremy Renner for the human lead role in his Spawn reboot movie, and earlier this week the announcement came out that the comic book creator had finally been able to land the Marvel star for his film.

Though arranging the deal with Renner might have been more complicated than he'd admit, McFarlane tells Screen Rant that a cosmic coincidence and a few vodka cocktails actually been able to help him nab the actor for his Spawn Reboot.

According to McFarlane, he had gone up to the Marvel star's house to sell him on the project, and the very next day he found a Grey Goose interview where Renner was talking with his other Spawn lead, Jamie Fox.

" And I'm going, 'Wow! This is serendipitous.' I'm going 'There's Jamie, talking to Jere-- this could actually be my two stars here.' So I poked Jamie and went, 'Hey Jamie just FYI, I just came from Mr. Renner's house it looks like you guys are friends...'"

Sipping vodka together, the two had a good time talking during the Grey Goose interview. Seeing this as an opportunity, McFarlane texted Foxx and asked him to try to help get Renner on board. Now, McFarlane has two big names in his Spawn reboot, and everyone's more than excited to see Fox playing everyone's favorite Hellspawn while Renner plays the detective Twitch.

The Spawn reboot doesn't have a release date just yet, but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
