DC fans were pretty surprised when word broke out today that Wonder Woman 1984 was being pushed back from its original November 2019 release to a June 5, 2020 release date. The original Wonder Woman movie directed by Patty Jenkins had experienced overwhelming success when it hit cinemas in June last year, and many were looking forward to the film's sequel.
Taking to Twitter, Jenkins has decided to address Wonder Woman 1984's delayed release, saying that she still can't wait to share the film on its new "weekend." Fans might notice that the original Wonder Woman was released on the same week, but only in June of 2017.

Though Jenkins doesn't offer any explanation why Wonder Woman 1984 was pushed back to a 2020 release, this confidence from the director is pretty reassuring. Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot did mention that the release date change was due to a "changing landscape," something by which she probably means the changing hands at Warner Brothers.
DC Films just recently saw some updates in its organizational structure this year with producers Walter Hamada and Chantal Nong taking their position at the head of the company. While fans would want to see Wonder Woman 1984 on the date it was promised, it seems like Warner Brother's new executive team might believe that the film needs more time to complete production.
Last week, word also came out that Warner Brothers decided to push back the production of The Flash, probably for the same reasons as it had delayed the release of Wonder Woman 1984.
