Wonder Woman 1984 is Still Getting Its Theatrical Release

Earlier today, word came out that Warner Brothers was thinking of canceling the theatrical release of Wonder Woman 1984 and dropping the film straight through digital.

COVID-19 has been negatively affecting the entertainment industry for the past few weeks. The spread of the novel coronavirus has forced organizers and organizations to cancel events like SXSW, VidCon 2020, and the highly anticipated Emerald City Comic-Con. It's forced the suspension of the production of upcoming films and television series like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as well as James Cameron's Avatar sequels. The virus has also delayed the release of highly anticipated Hollywood blockbusters like The New Mutants, Mulan, No Time to Die, and Black Widow.

With so many movies being moved around, it barely came as a surprise when word came out that Warner Brothers chairman Toby Emmerich had begun consulting with his top advisers on whether it would be a good decision to cancel Wonder Woman 1984's theatrical release and dropping the film straight to digital.

While it seemed a little bit too soon for Warner Brothers to start making a decision seeing how Wonder Woman 1984 would release in June, we understand that the studio simply can't afford any risks.

Luckily, it seems like the reports aren't in the least bit true. Warner Brothers is hell-bent on giving the Wonder Woman sequel a theatrical release. ComicBook.com decided to write to Warner Brothers to ask for a confirmation, and according to the studio, Wonder Woman 1984 is going to get a theatrical release even though reports say otherwise.

June 5 really is too far away for WB to start making big decisions. We'll get to know better when we start hitting April or May.

Aquaman 2 has yet to receive a release date.
