Will Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Include a Baby Yoda Cameo?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is making its big debut this Friday, and while the internet has been awash with discussions about the upcoming film, some continue to ponder whether or not Baby Yoda is going to appear in Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian's wrinkled 50-year-old child has been the talk of the town ever since his surprise appearance in the first episode of the live-action Star Wars series. The series is set years after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and because of its place in the official franchise timeline, fans can't help but wonder whether Baby Yoda will ever appear in The Rise of Skywalker.

While there have been numerous theories about Baby Yoda's appearance in the film, The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams says that the adorable green baby doesn't have any role to play in the third and final entry in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy.

"Baby Yoda is not in this movie," the director revealed in an interview with Variety, "[He's] the cutest thing in the history of time. How do you deny Baby Yoda? You cannot."

That's such a shame. It would have been lovely to see The Mandalorian connect to The Rise of Skywalker with a Baby Yoda appearance. Still, we understand why the film doesn't include any cameos from everyone's wrinkled little baby. It wouldn't make that much sense bringing Baby Yoda in Episode IX when the character hasn't been part of the sequel trilogy narrative. Guess Baby Yoda's only place, for now, is The Mandalorian.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is currently streaming on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to premiere this Friday, December 20, 2019.
