It looks like Wesley Snipes might be able to make his way back to the big screen as the iconic vampire hunter, Blade.
Speaking in an interview with VICE to celebrate Blade’s 20th anniversary, Snipes teases his return as Blade, saying that he’s currently in the middle of discussing two new projects with Marvel t taken from the same world as the 1998 superhero hero movie.
“There are a lot of conversations going around right now and we’re very blessed to have the enthusiasm and interest in something coming from that world again,” he said. “We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world and, when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love the most.”
Two new projects seem like pretty good news and while it’s hard to imagine vampires popping up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Snipes says that he and his team, as well as the main executives at Marvel Studio’s, have been discussing the projects for the past two years. Not only does the actor promise fans that everyone understands the ideas that he and his team are trying to put across, they’re also pretty enthusiastic about the upcoming projects.
“All the main execs [at Marvel] and my team, we’ve been discussing for the past two years,” Snipes told the publication. “Everyone’s enthusiastic about it, everybody gets it. But they got a business to run and they gotta square the things that they gotta figure out before they can get to it, I guess.”
But that’s not all. Snipes is also teasing a grittier and darker version of what his team used to offer in the Blade Trilogy, telling fans that the next time they see something from the Blade universe, it’s going to be epic.
“What we did before is child’s play compared to what we can do now,” the actor teased.
Of course, given how technology and cinematic effects have improved over the years, we can only expect the best from Snipes and his team.
Right now, Snipe’s projects don’t have a release date, but we’ll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
