Warner Brothers Shows Off 20-Minutes Of Great Shazam! Footage

Shazam! might be set for release later this April, but it seems like Warner Brother has been busy showing off Billy Batson (Asher Angle and Zachary Levi) and his new standalone movie to fans.

According to a new report by ComicBook.com, Warner Brothers gave members of the press as well as other special guests a special screening of never-before-seen footage running up to 20 minutes at the WB lot earlier today.

The entertainment news outlet got to view Shazam! early, however, as exciting as early test screenings might sound, the 20-minute-long footage for the film didn't have any visual effects to accompany it. Not only that, but the video was also chopped up in an attempt to keep Shazam's spoilers and secrets under wraps.

Starting off to the tune of Slim Shady by Eminem, the Shazam! test footage shows Billy Batson and his family of orphan children making their way to school. In the classroom, the students banter around, their conversations establishing Billy Batson as an introverted outcast. Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Glazer) on the other hand is filled with enthusiasm, and the child doesn't let his physical disability get him down.

The next few scenes might be familiar to fans because of Shazam's trailers. Bullies make fun of Freddy and Billy stands up for him though it's pretty clear that he's going to get beat up by the older kids. Billy runs away and ends up in a subway where we see him transported to the Rock of Eternity where he finds the last remaining Wizard of the Seven who turns him into Shazam. The footage goes on to show Billy running home to reveal himself as Shazam to Freddy, and then later tries to save a woman from getting her purse stolen.

Cutesy and innocent, Shazam is a hero that fans need in the DCEU, and everyone's excited to see Billy make his way to the big screen.

Shazam! premieres April 5, 2019.
