Tom Holland Clears Up Details On Drunken Spider-Man Phone Call With Bob Iger

Marvel fans might think that Tom Holland saved Spider-Man by making a drunken, emotional call asking Disney CEO Bob Iger to renegotiate with Sony, but the British actor denies being smashed at all during the conversation with the head of the Mickey Mouse House.

Holland just recently spoke in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment during the global premiere of Disney Pixar's upcoming computer-animated urban fantasy movie, Onward, and during the discussion with the entertainment news outlet, the actor opened up about saving Spider-Man.

While the actor says that he was grateful that Sony and Disney made him part of the process of rekindling the Spider-Man deal, Holland wants to clear up a few things. While the Avengers: Endgame star did have a few drinks with his friends, he wasn't totally smashed during his conversation with Iger. And no, the actor did not drunk dial the Disney CEO. The producer had called Holland while he was drinking.

"It's so funny how the press twists stories, though. Like I told the story that I had a few pints and Bob rang me. And then you read [the coverage] and it's like, 'Tom Holland was lying on the floor totally drunk when he spoke to Bob Iger.' I mean, I had a couple beers. It wasn't like I was smashed," Holland told Yahoo! Entertainment.

While it might have seemed difficult to get Disney and Sony to reconcile, Holland says that he feels like he handled the situation pretty well. Sure, he might have had a few drunken nights with his friends when he heard that the original deal between Disney and Sony had fallen through, however, he did manage to help figure things out for the studios.

Now, we're excited to see where Marvel is going to take Spider-Man as his journey in the MCU continues.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
