Game of Thrones received quite a number of nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards, but as it turns out, three out of the thirty-two nominations weren’t made by the HBO but by the show's individual stars instead.

Actors and actresses Sophie Turner, Gwendoline Christie, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Maisie Williams, Alfie Allen, and Nikolaj Costar-Waldaue were all recognized and nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress in Drama during the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards.

However, according to Elite Daily, two of the seven Game of Thrones supporting cast actually had to nominate themselves for the award. Unlike the rest, Christie and Allen’s names weren’t submitted by HBO or by anybody on the show.

Carice Van Houten, Game of Thrones’ Melissandre, also submitted herself for nomination at the Emmys, earning herself a nod for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama series.

These self-submissions may come as a surprise to fans. Christie’s character, Brienne of Tarth, was well-loved by fans. Alfie’s Theon Greyjoy also made great strides towards redemption in the final two seasons of the series. It’s hard to imagine why HBO would miss nominating Alfie and Christie for the Award. Perhaps it was an honest mistake.

Hopefully, the Game of Thrones cast and crew win these awards during the Emmy Awards Night. The competition is pretty stiff with shows like Better Call Saul, This is Us, and Killing Eve posing as contenders for the awards as well. However, we’re pretty sure that Game of Thrones will do well at the Emmys.
