The Mandalorian’s Twist Might Be More Important Than Darth Vader’s

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back might have featured one of the biggest twists in the Star Wars franchise when it revealed that Darth Vader was actually Luke's father, but now, it seems like Star Wars: The Mandalorian's twist might rival the major "No, I am your Father," moment.

According to Comic Book Review,The Mandalorian might have actually introduced an even larger twist when it premiered last month. The series introduced a shockingly delightful and loveable surprise character – Baby Yoda, a Force-sensitive 50-year-old child of the same species as everyone's favorite Jedi Master.

The Mandalorian was supposed to focus on Pedro Pascal's lone warrior, though there were rumors prior to the series' premiere that the Mandalorian would have a child accompanying him throughout his travels. Fans weren't expecting a green toddler to appear in Jon Favreau's live-action series.

Though The Empire Strikes Back's "I am your father" moment will remain as one of the most iconic twists in the franchise, analysis suggests that the twist in The Mandalorian may mean more to the future of Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away.

CBR argues that as shocking as it was to learn that Luke's father was one of the greatest enemies to the Rebellion and to the Light Side of the Force, Luke's mission remained the same even after the revelation. Luke was still supposed to destroy the Empire.

On the other hand, Baby Yoda's existence means a lot of things to the franchise. It opens up more questions about Yoda's species and questions about Baby Yoda's role in the future of the galaxy far, far away.

What do you think? Is The Mandalorian's twist more substantial than Empire Strikes Back? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
