Now that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's culminated the Skywalker saga, Star Wars fans are left with so many questions about the future of the Star Wars franchise. What does Lucasfilm have planned next for everyone's galaxy far, far away?
Apparently, an interconnected franchise like the one fans get to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to a report by Radio Times, there's a rumor going around is that Lucasfilm's big plan for the Star Wars franchise is to follow the formula that Marvel created when it built the MCU. Like Marvel, Lucasfilm plans to develop an interconnected series of films about different Jedi tracking down artefacts and villains.
The report suggests that this new interconnected franchise is going to come from Project Luminous an upcoming book and comic-book project by Lucasfilm. The films in this ftranchise could be very well set 300 to 400 years before the events of the Skywalker saga, talking fans to a time where the "High Republic" was still in place.
This new set-up would very different from Star Wars' rule of three where narratives are chopped into trilogies. Instead, this new take would follow the pattern set up the MCU where Star Wars fans get to see characters travelling through the galaxy to explore, track down ancient Sith, and then occasionally team up like the Avengers.
