The Batman Fan-Favorite Candidate Armie Hammer's Potential For Role Is In Question

There was a lot of major Batman news last week. Not only did Warner Brothers give DC fans a release date and general information about Matt Reeve's The Batman, but Ben Affleck announced his final decision to hang up his cape as the DC Extended Universe's Dark Knight, leaving the role for a younger actor.

Ever since then, word has been going around online saying that Call Me By Your Name and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. star Armie Hammer was the studio's top choice to play the DCEU's younger Bruce Wayne.

Though Hammer seems like a pretty good candidate for the role (not only does the actor have the look and the height for the part, but he was actually up to play the Caped Crusader for George Miller's canceled 2008 Justice League Mortal movie), but it seems like his ability to take on the part has been put in question. Hammer just recently announced his participation in Dreamland, a new movie where he stars together with Gary Oldman and Evangeline Lilly.

Despite these concerns, fans are still tossing Hammer's name into the ring. Variety just recently revealed that Dreamland has just begun filming. If Hammer manages to finish his scenes in the film early, then he might be able to catch up with the production for The Batman set later this year.

Of course, Warner Brothers could choose another actor for the role. There are other eligible stars for the part. Jon Hamm has always been a top pick and so has Taron Egerton from the Kingsman franchise.

Let's wait and see who Warner Brothers decides on.

The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
