Thanos Was Supposed To Greet The Avengers With A Throne Of Skulls In Avengers: Endgame

Thanos (Josh Brolin) has always been a force to reckon with, however, it seems like Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo originally wanted to paint an even more savage picture of the Mad Titan in the movie.

Empire Magazine recently held an Avengers: Endgame screening and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was in attendance. During the gather, the producer revealed that there was a version of the film's script where Thanos had actually taken over the universe in the year 2023. After returning from their time heist where they try to gather the Infinity Stones to undo the Mad Titan's Decimation, the Avengers find Thanos waiting for them sitting on a throne of Skulls.

That would have been a pretty monstrous scene, one that would go along with the discarded idea where multiverse Thanos brings in the severed head of Captain America (Chris Evans) to show to Steve. Of course, these scenes wouldn't really do well for Marvel – after all, the studio would want to keep with Disney's PG-13 rated standard. Having a decapitated Captain America and a throne of skulls in the film seems a little bit too graphic for children.

Marvel probably wouldn't want to raise the film's rating to a soft R – that would limit the film's audience reach. Now, the film has become the highest-grossing movie in Hollywood, beating out James Cameron's colossal blockbuster, Avatar.

Avengers: Endgame truly has been Marvel's biggest movie of the year.

Avengers: Endgame is currently available on Digital HD and will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD on August 13.
