TIME’s Person of the Year Greta Thunberg Finds Herself in the DC Universe

It might seem a little bit odd, but it looks like TIME Magazine's Person of the year Greta Thurnberg has managed to find her way into the DC Expanded Universe.

Frank Miller has seemingly included the climate activist and the 2019 Time Person of the Year in his latest title, The Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child. In the new series, Darkseid and Joker are working together to re-elect a governor who looks just like President Donald Trump (though he's never really referred to as the US President in the comic).

Learning of their plan, DC's new Batwoman Carrie Kelley and Jonathan Kent come together to stop both villains' mission. In one of the panels where a crowd of young people surrounds the ruler of Apokolips to protest the villain's campaign for the Trump-look-alike, readers get to see a character who looks a whole lot like Greta Thunberg.

Check out a screenshot of the panel down here:

While it's possible that this braided girl is just a background character who simply happens to look a lot like the climate change activist who's been making waves this year with her protest, it seems clear that Miller wants the character to represent Thunberg. After all, the young citizens of Gotham are having their own uprising against Apokalips, much like Thunberg has done in her mission o bring attention to the inevitable climate crises.

It might seem like a coincidence, but know Miller who's never been afraid to insert his political stance and personal viewpoint in his comic books, it seems clear that the character should seem like Thunberg.

The Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child is currently available for purchase.
