Stranger Things Star Winona Ryder Defends Johnny Depp in Trial Claiming Amber Heard Was Abusive

The legal battle between Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp and Aquaman actress Amber Heard continues to escalate with the former's lawyers revealing new information on how the latter was the abusive one in their relationship.

According to Comic Book Resources, Depp's team brought in a number of witnesses to argue that Heard had been the one abusive in the relationship, including the actor's former partners, Vanessa Paradis, the mother of Depp's two children, and Winona Ryder, Depp's former fiancée.

Paradis and Ryder were supposed to testify in court in support of Depp in his libel case against the Ruper Murdoch-owned British Newspaper, The Sun. However, as much as Paradis and Ryder had prepared for the testimony, the News Group Newspapers (Murdoch's News Corp divisive that directly owns The Sun) and its defense team cut off the two saying that they didn't have any reason to testify because Depp had never been abusive in prior relationships.

Instead, the defense team insists that Depp had only become abusive after starting a relationship with Heard.

Ryder's pre-trial witness statements, however, were leaked to the press. The Stranger Things star reveals how she had been shocked by the accusations of Depp being an abusive husband to Heard when she had experienced nothing of the sort when she had been together with the man.

"I understand that it is very important that I speak from my own experience, as I obviously was not there during his marriage to Amber, but, from my experience, which was so wildly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the accusations against him. The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations. He was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen. I truly and honestly only know him as a really good man – an incredibly loving, extremely caring guy who was so very protective of me and the people that he loves, and I felt so very, very safe with him. I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true. I find it extremely upsetting, knowing him as I do."

Of course, this testimony isn't the only information that's come out regarding Heard's innocence. There have been many others testifying in defense of the actor, revealing that the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them star had instead been the victim in his relationship with Heard.

We wonder what's going to become of the case in the end. Let's wait and see.
