Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Reportedly Had An Epic George Lucas Cut

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might have raked in more or less than a billion dollars in ticket sales when it was released in December last year, however, the film easily became one of the most divisive films in the Star Wars franchise.

While Episode IX has its fans, many other Star Wars followers and critics have lambasted the film for a bloated narrative skewed so that it would fit in its many, many moments of fan service. Though little can be done to save the film, there are rumors saying that George Lucas had his own cut for the movie, and a new report says that the Lucas Cut of The Rise of Skywalker would have featured epic scenes that would offer hope to the Star Wars franchise.

According to a report by Cosmic Book News, Lucasfilm had created three different cuts of Episode IX – A J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy Cut, a Bob Iger Cut, and a George Lucas Cut. Lucas' version of the film scored the highest in test screenings, however, Kenedy reportedly decided against the Star Wars creator's iteration of the film.

Now, details of the "Lucas Cut" of Episode IX say that Lucas' version of the film would have included at least two scenes that would have gone a long way in making the film right with fans.

It's an interesting rumor, to say the least. However, as much as we'd love to rally for the "Lucas Cut" of Episode IX, we remind fans to take this report with a large grain of salt. Not once has Lucasfilm declared that there were three cuts of The Rise of Skywalker.
