Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Theory Suggests that Dark Rey May be the Original

Star Wars fans went wild when one of the trailers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed Rey (Daisy Ridley) in dark robes, wielding a retractable red lightsaber. Is Rey going to turn to the Dark Side in Episode IX?

There have been various theories focused on Dark Side Rey, but the newest theory that's been making the rounds online suggests that the Dark Rey might be the original iteration of the character while Jakku Orphan Rey that we've come to know and love might actually be a clone.

Screen Rant just recently posted a new theory about Dark Rey, and according to the site, there's a possibility that Rey might just turn out to be a clone of the Dark Side version of herself. According to the entertainment news outlet, it doesn't sound entirely impossible for Lucasfilm to reveal Rey as a clone – after all, Darth Sidious was obsessed with creating the perfect Sith.

Star Wars lore strongly implies that ot was Palpatine who manipulated the Force into the brith of Anakin Skywalker, the "Chosen One" who will eventually turn into Darth Vader. Palpatine also abducted Force-sensitive children in The Clone Wars. Given his track record, we wouldn't be too surprised to see that Palpatine actually created Dark Rey, and the Jakku Orphan that eventually becomes the Resistance's new hero is the Light Side clone of Palpatine's efforts.

Still, as interesting as it might sound, the theory sounds a bit too farfetched for Episode IX. It's more likely that Dark Side Rey simply is the result of a Force Vision.
